Senior Escort Program

Program Purpose

The goal of the Senior Escort Program is to encourage safety, increase social engagement, and promote physical and mental health.  

Program Goals and Objectives

We help seniors in the Sacramento region maintain their independence with the companionship of a volunteer Senior Escort. The presence of the volunteer will potentially reduce the likelihood of exposure to negative incidents and help participants feel comfortable going about their daily activities.

Target Population

The target population is Sacramento County seniors aged 60 years old and better, who feel unsafe or uncomfortable in public without accompaniment, or those who are looking for some socialization and exercise.

Service Provided

Senior Escort Program staff members will take requests from participants and assign them to the appropriate volunteer. Trained volunteers will meet participants at a public site or at their homes and escort them, on-foot, to other public sites within the greater Sacramento area. Service will be provided Monday - Saturday between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. There will be no fees for such services, and the volunteers will not be allowed to provide transportation services for the participants. All escorts are volunteers and will not receive any compensation for the services they provide.
