ACC Senior Services' mission is to promote the general welfare and enhance the quality of life for our community by identifying, developing, and providing culturally sensitive health and social services for older adults. Volunteer with us to help to enrich the lives of seniors, elevate the human spirit and encourage social communication through group recreation. Help ACC Care Center residents by becoming an Activity Assistant Volunteer today!

Here's what you'll do on a typical day:

  • Engage with senior residents in regularly scheduled fun activities!
  • Build companionship with seniors!
  • Some of our favorite activities include BINGO, Mah Jong, other board games and card games, crafts, and cooking classes!
  • Other activities which may include sensory group activities, strolls outdoors, one-on-one visits; bilingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Spanish, etc.) volunteers for some one-on-one visits would be great! 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Some skills that will make you successful while you volunteer are:

  • Please be able to demonstrate patience, compassion, and a desire to help others.
  • Dependable and able to commit to a regular schedule.
  • Ability to conduct yourself in a friendly and professional manner.

Schedule & Length of Commitment

Shifts available 7 days per week, perfect for anyone who works or attends school full-time! We ask our volunteers to commit to a regular schedule for at least three (3) months.



Requirements to Volunteer at ACC Care Center

All volunteers are required to complete an initial phone screening with our Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteers in this position are required to complete an online background check through Backgrounds Online.

  • ACC pays for all volunteer background checks.
  • No volunteer is denied solely on the grounds of criminal conviction; but the date, nature, and relevance of the offense to the positions assigned may be considered.

Volunteers are required to watch two (2) training videos; about Elder Abuse Prevention and Mandated Reporting, and HIPAA Confidentiality. Total duration = approximately 45 minutes. 

Volunteers are required to read and sign all waivers in our Volunteer Application Packet

Volunteers at ACC Care Center are required to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and Physical Exam with your own primary care physician before starting; or the ACC Care Center is able to do the TB test. If you’ve had these two things done within the past 3 months, we will accept a copy. These two things must be completed annually.

Volunteers will also tour the ACC Care Center facility and go through an Infectious Control training as part of orientation.
