Why Volunteer with SCSEP?
Every year the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) enrolls approximately 70 seniors with low incomes and multiple barriers to employment. The goals of the program, funded by the Department of Labor, are to provide community service while helping seniors to become job-ready and financially self-sufficient. Seniors are placed into a non-profit or government agency where they can train on-the-job to gain new skills, all while helping the community and working towards securing unsubsidized employment. Seniors also work with ACC staff and program volunteers to develop and pursue Individual Employment Plans, such as digital literacy, updating their resumes, practicing interview skills, and conducting job searches.
What are the volunteer responsibilities?
Volunteers with SCSEP will be responsible for on-going program and office support, this may include:
- Development of participant trainings, such as computer literacy.

- Provide individual basic computer support to participants as needed.
- Provide office support, such as organizing files, answering phones, mailing documents, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
